DETAILED AGENDA
7:30 a.m. - REGISTRATION & BREAKFAST
8:30 a.m. - KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
Over nearly two decades in the financial industry, Daniel B. Zwirn built a reputation as a savvy credit specialist who knew where to find good lending opportunities and turn those into solid returns for investors.
At D.B. Zwirn & Co., the $6 billion hedge fund he spun out of Highbridge Capital Management in 2004, Zwirn produced 49 consecutive months of positive returns. His strategy was simple: make loans to companies that couldn't easily borrow by other, more traditional means. Zwirn closed the fund in February 2008 after disclosing to investors that some improper fund transfers had been made and that there were accounting irregularities. He self-reported the issues to the SEC. Three years later, he and his firm were cleared of any wrongdoing by the SEC.
Today Daniel Zwirn is the managing member of Zwirn Family Interests LLC and Arena Investors LLC. He is planning a new fund which will follow the same successful lending strategy he used at D.B. Zwirn & Co.
As HedgeWorld New York 2012's keynote speaker, Mr. Zwirn will discuss why he thinks the current global macro environment forms the perfect backdrop for his strategy. He will discuss his views on illiquid credit markets and offer some reflections on his career and advice for next generation hedge fund managers.
